Jump Roping

Jump roping is one of the best cardio exercises that anyone can do. You’d be surprised how many boxers and sports players jump rope as part of their training.

Jump roping may look easy to do – but those who haven’t done it since they were 11 will find themselves tripping over the rope and messing up in many ways. Don’t be discouraged. All you need are a few good instructions and lots of practice. Soon you’ll find that it becomes like second nature.

Many people believe that if they can’t run – due to injuries to their knees – then they can’t jump rope. The truth is – when done properly – you can find that it won’t hurt at all. The trick is to land on the balls of your feet not flat and not on your heels (like runners). If you land flat your feet will hit the ground too hard and you will hurt both your feet and your legs.

Jump roping is one of the more exhausting exercises (more so than the others) – which means that you need to work your way up to the desired speed and how long you do it for.
